To enliven the Algonquin resort at St. Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick, Fairmont Hotels retained Tom McBroom to work his magic. McBroom conducted a total redesign that has re-established the Algonquin course as one of the most popular resort golf destinations in Canada. Originally built more than 100 years ago along the sea and tinkered with by Donald Ross in 1927, the Algonquin had grown tired over the years. In 2000, McBroom brought the course into the new millennium by totally re-building the course. The architect re-routed the course to create drama and provide stunning ocean views from the relocated clubhouse and the back nine, including the spectacular par 3 12th with its dramatic mile-long view over Passamaquoddy Bay.
