"The course is dramatic in every way but not overdone." – Lorne Rubenstein, The Globe and Mail
Winding its majestic way through ancient forests, rocky outcroppings and streams, this dramatic 7,000-yard layout exudes a distinctly Canadian personality and single handedly opened up Canada's Muskoka region to the golf tourism world. Tom McBroom and co-designer Bob Cupp proved that a stunningly beautiful and imminently playable resort course could be built on a foundation of solid rock and bog. At Deerhurst, McBroom established himself as a world leader in designing great golf courses on rocky sites and pioneered a design style that would become the model for working in rough terrain around the world. Rather than fight the rock, he incorporated it in strategic and dramatic ways, framing the margins of play with spectacular granite outcroppings. Deerhurst perennially ranks as one of Canada's greatest golf courses.
