"McBroom's bunkering technique makes FireRock a real treat." – Robert Thompson, golf writer
A first-class public-access course built partly on a former gravel pit, FireRock demonstrates Tom McBroom's skill in creating whimsical golf courses that harmonize with the natural setting. FireRock is a lovely walk that traverses subtle elevation changes and hills adorned with fescue grasses. The course is distinctive for the gnarly, random-grassed edges of the bunkers reminiscent of an earlier design era. As for whimsy, the long par 4 fourth sports a green split by a large odd knoll that forces players to strategize how they will approach the hole. FireRock's finishing hole – a 454-yard downhill par 4 that doglegs around a woodlot to a green perched on a hillside – is one of the most dramatic closers in Canadian golf.
