If there was ever an extreme topographical challenge to laying out a good golf course, Hockley Valley in the Mono Hills northwest of Toronto is it. Opened in 1989, the sporty Hockley Valley layout plunges and soars beautifully on a site that many thought unsuitable for good golf. The result is spectacular and memorable, particularly in the fall when the fiery autumn colours illuminate the valley.
