Like his Lake Joseph and Deerhurst courses in Muskoka, the success of Tom McBroom's Monterra helped ignite a golf and real estate boom in a region previously known only as a ski destination. The management at Blue Mountain resort – Intrawest has since become the owner – envisaged the popularity of Collingwood, Ontario, as a four-season resort town and McBroom's Monterra course to helped make the vision a reality. Curling along the edge of Blue Mountain and above the waters of Georgian Bay, Monterra offers spectacular vistas and dramatic holes on exciting mountain terrain. Elevated tees provide sweeping views of many holes defined by thick forests and razorback mounding that gives the course it identifiable character. McBroom's creativity and eye for detail created a great resort course that has been a mainstay of the Collingwood scene for 15 years.
